Debra “Dee” Brown Ferguson, a longtime resident of Columbus, Kentucky, and formerly of Vero Beach, Florida, and Seaside Heights, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center on August 1, 2025, at the age of 66.

Born on November 11, 1958, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Debra brought quick wit, boundless charm, and left an indelible mark on her loved ones. Her contagious laughter and vibrant personality were gifts to those who knew and loved her.

Debra was a dedicated housekeeper until her retirement, a role she carried out with pride and diligence. Outside of work, she had a passion for music, especially beloved tunes from the 80s and 90s, and was known for her spontaneous singing and clever quips. She possessed an innate ability to turn ordinary moments into memories that would be cherished by her loved ones for years to come through laughter and joke making. She cherished simple joys like riding bikes in the park, watching cartoons, playing games and spending quality time with her adored grandsons.

An avid writer, Debra loved to craft poetry that reflected her view of the world – a place where magic and reality danced together. Her fondness for unicorns captured her whimsical spirit, and her playful nature was often on full display. Never more so than when she wore her hat backwards with a mischievous grin.

Debra "Dee" Ferguson lived with an open heart and leaves behind a legacy of humor, compassion, and a reminder that the joy we bring to others is the truest reflection of our own inner light. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who were touched by her extraordinary spirit, and her memory will continue to inspire love and kindness in the hearts she has left behind.

Debra is survived by her loving partner of 18 years, Reba Summers; one daughter, Jennifer Rinella of Vero Beach, Florida; one son, Arthur A. Ferguson, Jr. of Paducah, Kentucky; two sisters, Willa Oshel of Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey and Cathy Arroyo of Forked River, New Jersey; one brother, John Hornung, Jr. of Beachwood, New Jersey; four grandsons, Anthony Ferguson, Heath Ferguson, Aidan Ferguson, and Christian Ferguson; as well as several nieces, nephews, and great friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine Brown Hornung and John Hornung, Sr.

The family plans to host a memorial service at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Milner and Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah.
