David L. Carroll, 81 of West Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at his home on Friday, October 4, 2024.

Mr. Carroll was born on April 22, 1943, to the late, E.B. Buster Carroll and Eva Heady Carroll in the Heath community. David retired from insurance sales at Equitable Life Insurance Company.  He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years, and was currently a Deacon Emeritus.

David is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mrs. Becky; two daughters, Kristi Johnson (Matt) of West Paducah, and Megan Kelly of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two sons, David C. Carroll (Karyn) of Paducah, and J.P. Kelly (Kelley) of West Paducah; eight grandchildren, Patrick Carroll, Lindsey Beth Perkins (Ryan), Madelyn Buckingham, Mason Buckingham, Conner Kelly (Ashton), Ava Kelly, Mya Kelly, Chaney Johnson, McCall Johnson, and Finley Johnson; a sister, Jane Erickson (Steve) of Madison, Ohio; two brothers, Neel Carroll (Linda) of Paducah, and Tommy Carroll (Marie) of Kevil; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Casper and Sue Reed; five brothers, Billy Jo Carroll, Herb Carroll, Gov. Julian Carroll, Gene Carroll, and Bobby Jack Carroll, and his parents.

David, better known as “Ta” or “Papa”, was quick to love and serve, and had a deep love for Jesus. He was a man of patience, kindness, generosity, and steadiness for his family and friends. He was so proud of his sons, and championed his daughters. His son in law and daughters in law were treasures to him. But his truest love was his wife, Becky and his grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed, but his legacy of God’s goodness will continue on.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah with Rev. Josh Causey and Dr. Chris Prescott officiating.
