 Sonny Crews, age 72, of McKenzie, Tennessee and a native of El Paso, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 29th, 2022.
 
 Sonny attended Eastwood High School in El Paso, Texas and graduated in 1969. He then was recruited by Colorado University in Boulder, Colorado for a full football scholarship. During his years at CU, he gained the achievement of being on the cover of Sports Illustrated against Penn State and pursued opportunities in the NFL with the Houston Oilers.
 
 In 1971, Sonny was drafted into the Army to go to Vietnam. During his time in the Army, he accomplished many skill sets that would follow him throughout his career. Sonny's unit was 101 Airborne, where he made high risk Combat Jumps. He also became a Master EOD Tech and was a K9 Handler with his partner K9 Duke, in Germany after he was shot 3 times, earning 3 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars and 1 Silver Star, among other accommodations. 
 
Once Sonny came back from Vietnam he began a long career in Law Enforcement, starting with his management position with the Department of Energy at Rocky Flats in Colorado where he met his wife of 38 years, Veronica. Sonny's Law Enforcement path lead to him teaching at the CTA in New Mexico and his contributions with the LAPD Swat team, then later excelled as a United States Marshal where he retired and moved to Tennessee to his family ranch.

Sonny is survived by his wife Veronica Stallings Crews and his 3 daughters; Sunny Crews Sherwood, with her husband Alex Sherwood and their daughter, Farrah. Katie Smith, with her husband Max Smith and their children; Hailey, Karlie, Katlyn and Hank. Kerrie Clayton, with her fiancé Cliff Harmon and Kerrie's children; R.J., Rayah and Alanah.
 
 Preceding in death was his parents, James Raymond and Lucyle Struble Crews.
