Charles Richard Carter

Charles Richard Carter, age 88, of Bardwell, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Baptist Health Paducah.
 
Mr. Carter was born in Burkley, Kentucky on May 22, 1933 to the late General Bonnie and Alta Long Carter.  He was retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.  Charles was a lifetime member of the Denver Hudgens VFW post #409 and Forked Lake Hunting and Fishing Club.  He played baseball for the Burkley Giants and later played softball for the Carlisle County Senior Citizens.  He was a passionate fisherman who also enjoyed hunting, gardening, watching golf and daily trips through the River Bottoms.
 
He will be remembered for his funny yet stubborn personality.  He loved all of his family dearly, but especially his “Miss Ann”.
 
Charles is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Carter; his daughter, Dana Polivick (Bradley) of Bardwell; two sons, Denver Blake Carter of Dallas, Texas and Charles Carter (Penny) of Milburn; one brother, F.A. Carter (Betty) of Arlington; ten grandchildren, Kendra Hayden (Andy), Kirstin Futrell (Chance), Nicole Sonnek (Dylan), Kayla Stephens, Chase Stephens, Spencer Polivick (Bryce), Justin Polivick (Millicent), Karen Polivick, Ariel Flowers (Dakota) and Kaylee Wallace; and fourteen great-granchildren, Payton Hayden, Parker Hayden, Nolan Futrell, Nadalyn Futrell, Kylar Scott, Adalynne Sonnek, Baker Sonnek, Izabella Fuller, Rory Jo Fuller, Declan Comer, Kolton Polivick, Gabbie Flowers, Brantley Flowers and Emberlynn Flowers.
 
He was preceded in death by his brother, G.B. Carter, his parents and his granddaughter, LaCresha Ann Carter.
 
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Roselawn Cemetery with Rev. Jason Burnett officiating.
 
There will be no public visitation.
