Charles Edward Crowell, 86, of Symsonia, KY, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 9:07 PM, surrounded by his family. Born to Rev. Thomas Edward and Lalah Mae Crowell in 1938, Charles was a man who wore his faith proudly.

In 1956, he entered the concrete business and later founded Crowell Pools and Spas, where his dedication and hard work earned him a respected place in the community. But Charles’s true calling went far beyond his business. A profound love for Jesus Christ drove him, and he delighted to share that love with everyone he met.

For Charles, life was about serving God, and his faith infused everything he did. One of the most heartfelt expressions of his devotion was a song he wrote, “He Loves Me So.” This song, inspired by his relationship with God, became a labor of love and a tool for ministry. Charles recorded the song and carried hundreds of CDs, eager to share his message. With his warm smile and a twinkle in his eye, he would approach friends and strangers alike, asking, “Would you like to hear something that’ll make you feel good?” Those who said yes didn’t just receive a CD-they received a gift of hope, love, and a glimpse of Charles’s unwavering faith.

Charles’s journey of faith began early in life as a Southern Baptist. A devoted member of Hardmoney Baptist Church, his deep commitment to God was evident in how he lived, loved, and served.

Charles also proudly served his beloved country as a member of the U.S. Army. His time in service instilled in him a deep sense of duty and discipline, qualities that remained with him throughout his life. Whether in uniform or as a civilian, Charles carried himself with honor, exemplifying the values of integrity, respect, and service to others.

He loved to travel with his cherished wife, Eloise, and their loyal German Shepherd, Bree. Their adventures took them across the United States, from the breathtaking beauty of Alaska and Hawaii to the warmth of the Caribbean and the stunning landscapes of Canada. For Charles, travel wasn’t just about seeing new places-it was about connecting with people, sharing his music, and spreading the love of Jesus wherever he went.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Eloise Crowell; his sister, Linda Cain of South Carolina; his brother, Terry Crowell of Texas; and his children, David Crowell (Sidney), Tracy Crowell Wallace (Micheal), Chip Crowell (Lisa), and Susanna Crowell Perriello (Bryan) all of Paducah, and a bonus son, Faris Sahawneh (Mitzi) of Boaz, KY.

He was the proud grandfather of nine: Courtney Wallace Quimby, Emily Crowell Smith, Erika Crowell Calhoun, Alyssa Crowell Galvan, Blake Crowell, Ashley Crowell Youngblood, Colton Crowell, David Perriello, and Jack Perriello. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Kylee and Addie Quimby, Brooks Smith, Cameron Calhoun, and Grayson Galvin, as well as his faithful dog, Bree.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Thomas Edward Crowell and Lalah Mae Crowell Kaler, and his former wife, Jackie Angel Crowell.

Even in his later years, as his health declined, Charles’s humor and steadfast faith never wavered. He could always lighten the mood with his favorite phrase, “Shut up and shovel,” reflecting his resilience and playful spirit.

Charles’s life was a testament to the boundless love of Jesus Christ. He didn’t just profess his faith-he lived it with a kindness and joy that touched everyone who knew him. His legacy is unwavering devotion to his Savior, family, and community.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner and Orr Funeral Home with Dr. Faris Sahawneh and Rev. Kenneth Puckett officiating.  Burial to follow at the Rosebower Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Charles has taken his final journey and moved his residence to Praise Boulevard, the City of Cheer, New Jerusalem. He is now safe in Jesus’ arms. We take comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of the Savior he loved deeply. His faith, love, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those blessed to know him.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
