Carrie Mae Gibson Thomason, age 93, of Paducah, formerly of Bardwell, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Center in Paducah.
Carrie Mae was born in Burkley, Kentucky on February 25, 1931, to the late Donald and Opal Sullivan Gibson. They lived on Island No. 3 for much of her childhood where she would have to take a ferry to cross the Mississippi River to get to school in Burkley. She was a member of Bardwell Baptist Church. Carrie Mae loved her church family and served on many committees and helped in the nursery for many years.
In her free time, Carrie Mae loved to camp at Kentucky Lake and crappie fish with her husband. They spent many years at the Energy Lake Campgrounds before moving to Triangle Campgrounds. Carrie Mae will be remembered by her family as being to most devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Carrie Mae is survived by her daughter, Jan (Garry) Clark of Paducah; a brother, Edward (Bonnie) Gibson of Jacksonville, Florida; sister-in-law, Jewell Gibson of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Emilee Clark of Paducah and Carry (Vince) Thomason of Cunningham; and three great-grandchildren, Molly Summarell, Kate Summarell, and Gabbi Thomason.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, F.A. Thomason; two daughters, Kathy and Anna Thomason; a brother, Herbert Gibson; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell with Bro. Jason Burnett and Bro. Harold Draper officiating. Burial will follow at Burkley Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the service time of 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the funeral home.
