Carolyn S. Adams, of West Paducah, Kentucky, heard the words she had long been working toward, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 82.
Carolyn is survived by the love of her life, her loving and devoted husband of thirty-six years, Jimmy Adams. She is also survived by her two sons, Glendon Scott Campbell (widower of Gretchen) of Walker, LA, and David Adams (Robin) of Paducah, KY, and two daughters, Lori Lockhart of Lewisville, TX, and Krista Parker (Joey) of Brownsville, TN. Carolyn was always happy to update you on her grandchildren Matthew Campbell, Joshua Lockhart, Carolyn Lockhart, Michael Campbell, Scottye Campbell, Ian Campbell, Emily Parker, and Garrison Parker or share a memory of Theresa Lockhart. Carolyn also was Gran to seven great-grandchildren.
Born November 24, 1941, in Highland Park, MI, to the late Wuido Michael Caliguri and Mary Evelyn (Caliguri) Gregory, Carolyn is survived by brothers and sisters, Frank Caliguri of Warren, MI, Rose Marie Caliguri of Tarpon Springs, FL, Janet Brainard of Battle Creek, MI, Eric Gregory of Warren, MI, Mary Kincaid of Roseville, MI, Phillip Gregory of Warren, MI, and Kathy Bouchard of Roseville, MI. She was preceded in death by brothers Wayne Caliguri, Dennis Caliguri, Jeff Gregory and Shawn Gregory.
Carolyn was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church of West Paducah, KY and a graduate of both Tilghman High School and Draughon’s Business College and worked for Motion Industries for 26 years. Her greatest work, however, was loving her family and friends in every way possible. She loved reading, crafting, flower gardening, sewing, decorating, and traveling. No matter if she were painting ceramics or piecing a beautiful quilt, it was almost always to lovingly gift to family or friend. Carolyn has friends from many states and several countries due in great part to one of her favorite titles as “Winter Texan.” She and Jim have spent 14 years as residents of the Tip O Texas community in Pharr, TX each winter where she could be found chatting on the porch, hosting holiday tables for events, enjoying water aerobics, visiting local restaurants with the Thirsty Thursday group, winning one of many gold medals in baking contests, or delivering something delicious from her oven to a friend.
If you ever needed a mom or friend, Carolyn was the one. She always had time to listen and, rest assured, she was never hesitant to tell you exactly how you could solve any problem. Then she would sit you down for a piece of hot milk cake or pecan pie. While she showed love in so many ways, her favorite was through food. No matter how many shoes were lined up at the door when she came home, there was always plenty to eat and room at her table. She was happiest in the kitchen and sitting around the table with those whom she loved. Whether trying out a new recipe or carefully crafting each person’s favorite dish, it would no doubt be delectable and served on a beautifully set table. If it were a family meal, a picture would most certainly be taken before the first bite was.
God’s creation brought much peace to Carolyn. She admired the beauty of each flower and named her plants after the loved one who gifted her with it. The hummingbirds knew to stop at her feeders because they would always be full, and she would light up as they danced in appreciation. She kept a watchful eye to the sky to see the flock of parrots going to roost at dusk. We find great comfort in knowing she is now basking in the glory of God’s greatest masterpiece and enjoying all that He has prepared for her.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the heroes of Fresenius Kidney Care and Lourdes Hospital for the excellent and gentle care that you provided our precious wife, mother, and sister.
