Carolyn Reddick Sullivan passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on October 1, 1931, in Carlisle County, Kentucky, she exemplified a life devoted to her faith, education, community service, and boundless enthusiasm for life.
Carolyn, a proud graduate of Milburn High School, furthered her education at Murray State University where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She dedicated her professional life to nurturing young minds as a teacher at Lowes School, West Broadway Elementary (Mayfield), Milburn School, Bardwell School and Carlisle Elementary. Even after her retirement, her passion for education and community never waned.
As an active member of Milburn Baptist Church, Carolyn taught Vacation Bible School and was the church pianist. She was a steadfast volunteer, giving her time to the blood mobile, Relay for Life, making heartwarming visits to hospital patients and those in rest homes and being an active member of the Milburn Homemakers. In recognition of her selfless dedication, she was honored as a Kentucky Colonel.
Carolyn had a passion for travel, having visited all 50 states, an inexhaustible love of shopping, and her ever-present readiness to have fun. She never met a stranger, touching the lives of everyone with her warmth and open heart. Carolyn's legacy of love, laughter, and service to others will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Gina Sullivan Frady (Mark) of Madison, Alabama; stepgrandaughter, Kelsey Malone (Patrick) of Berea, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Barbara Sullivan; niece, Shana Sullivan and nephew, Mel Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Russell Durwood Sullivan, and her parents, Alvin and Lorene Reddick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Milburn Baptist Church with Bro. Glen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Milburn Cemetery.
Visitation will held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.
