Carolyn Petty, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on November 22, 1938, in Cunningham, Kentucky, Carolyn's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family, her work, and her faith.
Carolyn's professional life was marked by a remarkable 35-year career in clerical work. She was a respected employee at Inland Finance as well as West Kentucky Gas out of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who had the pleasure of working alongside her. Carolyn's involvement in her community was equally noteworthy, as she was a faithful member of the Paducah First Baptist Church, where she formed many cherished friendships and contributed to the church's mission with her characteristic warmth and generosity.
Those who knew Carolyn will fondly remember her for her impeccable sense of style and the way she cherished her beloved cat, Sandy. She was the epitome of grace and always presented herself with elegance in her perfectly matched outfits. Her laughter was infectious, and her presence brought joy to every gathering. She loved the Kentucky Wildcats and cheered them on expressing great joy with each victory.
Above all, Carolyn's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was the embodiment of a loving sister and aunt, always putting the needs of her loved ones before her own. Her funny anecdotes and the sound of her laughter will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Carolyn is survived by one sister, Margie Hammonds of Paducah; one nephew, Fred Hammonds, Jr. of Kevil; two nieces, Freida Cardwell of Sikeston, Missouri and Marcia Orlovich of Manhattan, Illinois; several great nephews and great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Layton “E.L.” Petty and Verdie Ola Thurston Petty; one brother Travis Petty; and one niece Lisa Dargert.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Milner and Orr Funeral and Cremation Services of Paducah with Rev. Tommy Tucker officiating.
Visitation will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Paducah Funeral Home.
