Bonnie McDowell, 90, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at the Calvert City Nursing and Rehab in Calvert City, KY. She was born on January 15, 1935, in Hopkins County, KY, to the late Sam and Lucy Hardin Wilson.
Bonnie's life was a testament to her unwavering faith in the Baptist church, her profound love for her children and grandchildren, and her passion for life's simple pleasures. Bonnie loved dancing, an activity that brought her immense joy and vitality. She enjoyed cooking, often sharing her delicious creations with family and friends. Bonnie's adventurous spirit led her to travel and explore new places. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her. Bonnie McDowell's legacy of love, faith, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
She is survived by a daughter, Melinda Thomason of Smithland, KY; three sons, Don McDowell of Terlingua, TX, Allan McDowell of Eddyville, KY and Michael McDowell of Wheatcroft, KY; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald “Buddy” McDowell; a daughter, Diana Key; three sisters, Lola Carter, Mamie Neize and Lillian Kennedy and three brothers, Michael Wilson, Oscar Wilson and Woodrow Wilson.
