Bettye June Price

Bettye June Price, of Richmond, Virginia passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, three days shy of her 97th birthday. Born March 6, 1928, in Wickliffe, Kentucky, to the late James Clay Rollins and Allie Mae Rollins, Bettye grew up surrounded by family. She cherished her grandfather, “Daddy Boone,” and Uncle Pat, and time spent at the Wayside Inn, her grandparent’s boarding house in Wickliffe.
 
A 1946 graduate of Wickliffe High School, Bettye worked at Nabisco in Cairo, Illinois, before marrying Dan Price, a B-17 combat pilot and engineer from Barlow. They raised three children in St. Louis, Missouri, and Litchfield, Illinois.
 
Bettye’s life was defined by generosity—guided by Acts 20:35, she often gave away her possessions to someone she felt was in need. Her gentle kindness touched all.
 
A devoted homemaker, Bettye crafted warm homes with impeccable care, serving biscuits and gravy no guest could resist. She balanced her husband’s creativity with grounded support over their 60+ years together. An active church member, starting at First Baptist in Wickliffe, she served humbly wherever she worshipped. Bettye loved UK Wildcats basketball, beach trips, puzzles, and neighborhood walks, always with gum or mints for her grandkids.
 
Predeceased by Dan and sisters Lula Mae (Jim) Koonce, Glenda (Pleas) Huckabee, and Anita (Billy Hop) Howle, Bettye is survived by daughter Penne (Jeff) Baker of San Diego, CA; sons Todd (Susan) Price of Houston, TX, and Rohn (Sandi) Price of Richmond, VA; brother Barry (Lianne) Rollins of Clarksville, TN; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
 
Visitation is 12:30-2:30 p.m., March 15, 2025, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe, followed by a 3:00 p.m. graveside service at Barlow Cemetery, Barlow, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to International Medical Outreach (IMOUTREACH.ORG). 
 
Bettye’s legacy of love endures in all who knew her.
