Barbara Roof

Barbara Nell O’Daniel Roof, 85, of Paducah, KY, a cherished matriarch and beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, at 5:04 PM, surrounded by her loving family at Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY. Her legacy of love and care will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.
 
Born May 4, 1939 in Paducah, Kentucky to Henry and Fannie Champion O’Daniel, Barbara had an innate gift for hospitality and a heart full of compassion. Barbara dedicated her life to serving others. She tended to the needs of family and friends with unparalleled grace and generosity. Her home was always a warm haven, filled with the aroma of her delicious cooking, a testimony to her love for bringing people together around the table. Known for her warm smile and open arms, Barbara had a gift for making everyone feel special. Whether hosting family gatherings or sharing quiet moments, her presence radiated love, laughter, and a sense of belonging. Barbara’s faith was the foundation of her life. As an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Paducah, she lived as an example of grace and devotion, inspiring those around her with her steadfast commitment to her beliefs.
 
As a devoted wife to Adrian, Barbara shared a lifetime of love and partnership, building a family rooted in faith, resilience, and joy. She took immense pride in her role as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, godmother, cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones. Her thoughtful, nurturing spirit made her the cornerstone of her family, and her wisdom was a guiding light for generations.
 
In addition to her commitment to serving others, Barbara spent many years working for GM Wholesale, Hal Brown’s Accounting, Paducah Rigging, and Marquette Transportation. She was an active member of the Paducah Lion’s Club Telethon for over 40 years, St. John’s Catholic Church and School Picnic, Paducah Women’s Club, and Daughters of Isabella.
 
Survivors include her three children Karen Roof Boudreaux (Kerry) of Lexington, KY, Steve Roof (Greta) of Bowling Green, KY, and Sheila Carol Roof of Paducah, KY. Seven grandchildren Kala Boudreaux, Kelsey Feck (Coner), Rachel Jarvis (Nick), Noah Roof, Kate Boudreaux, Silas Roof, Nathanial Roof. Four great-grandchildren Carrick Jarvis, Josiah Jarvis, Braden Feck and Carson Feck.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Adrian Roof, parents Henry and Fannie Champion O’Daniel, siblings Virginia Roberts, Larry O’Daniel, Vernon O’Daniel, James Walden O’Daniel, Orville O’Daniel, Robert O’Daniel, Eugene O’Daniel, and Lawrence O’Daniel.
 
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Lone Oak Milner and Orr Chapel in Paducah, Kentucky with prayers at 7:30 PM with Fr. Frank Roof presiding. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Paducah, KY with Fr. Frank Roof presiding. Burial will follow at St.John Cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Barbara's honor to St. Mary Catholic School at 1243 Elmdale Road, Paducah, KY 42003 and Lone Oak Lion’s Club at 2304 Lakewood Drive, Paducah, KY 42003.
