Barbara Owings

Barbara Owings, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on Monday, September 9, 1940, in Memphis, TN, to Floyd and Virginia Smith, she lived a life marked by devotion to her loved ones and her faith.

After a rewarding career at Union Planters Bank, Barbara retired, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and diligence. A committed member of Bellview Baptist Church, her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's journeys and inspiring those around her.

Barbara was happiest surrounded by family at various gatherings and events, her laughter and warmth elevating every occasion. A lover of the outdoors, she enjoyed fishing and playing golf and found solace and joy caring for her garden, cultivating beauty in both her yard and her community. Barbara Owings will be profoundly missed, yet her bright spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Mrs. Owings is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Lynn DeMorse (Michael David) of Memphis, Tennessee and Barbara Darlene Musick of Ripley, Mississippi; her son, Robert Edward Taylor of Paducah; her 12 grandchildren.

Mrs. Owings was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Curtis Owings; her daughter, Terri Sue Jeu; her son Donald Floyd Taylor; her parents, Floyd Anthony Smith and Virginia Augusta Sanders Smith; her sister, Thelma Ann Prichard; her brother, Aubrey James Smith.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Larry Davidson officiating. Entombment will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the funeral home.
