Harmon Wallace Murphy, 89, of Paducah passed away peacefully, on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Baptist Health Paducah surrounded by his family.
Harmon retired from the Paducah Fire Department in 1977 as Fire Captain and worked as a residential contractor. He enjoyed boating and was an avid Ohio/Tennessee “River Rat” and loved playing Rhythm Guitar with his friends, holding jam sessions in his home for the past ten years. He was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Judy Murphy of Paducah; two children, Mike (Tracy) Murphy of Paducah and Rick (Christina) Murphy of Shelbyville, KY; four grandchildren, Lauren (Jeremy) Elias, Morgan Murphy, Dylan (Kristin) Murphy, Sean (Katie) Murphy; four step-grandchildren, Matthew (Jen) Neutz, Michael (Cadie) Neutz, Tim Neutz, Lizzy (Chase) Craddock; nine great-grandchildren, Chance, Ariana, Blakelee, Bennett, Cole, Lawson, Declan, Sadie, Ellis; and three step-great-grandchildren, Easton, Cameron, Graham; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Quavia Murphy; one son, Marvin Dale Murphy; two brothers, Elbert Russell Murphy and William Ellis Murphy; and one sister, Patricia Tate; and one step-grandson, Ryan Neutz.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ross Buchanan and family friend Mark Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family from 11:00am to service hour on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Murphy’s honor to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
