Gene Hayden, 84, of Bardwell passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at his residence.
Gene was a retired farmer and member of St. Charles Catholic Church. In 2020 he was awarded the Lifetime Conservationist Award. He enjoyed deer/turkey hunting and caring for the farm.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, LaVella Hayden; one daughter, Maria (Bill Betz) Hayden; one son, Scott (Jennifer) Hayden; two sisters, Dorothy Elliott and Eva Lou Toon; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Hayden and Zada Hayden; infant son, Gerard Hayden; two sisters, Joyce Ann Hayden and Laura Belle Toon; two brothers, Bert Hayden and Clifton Hayden; and one grandson, Craig Hobbs.
He will be cremated per his wishes and private family services will be held at a later date.
