David W. Clark, 81, of Paducah, Kentucky entered the gates of heaven Friday April 19, 2024. He was born October 30,1942 in Paducah to Arvel and Vera Clark. In 1960 he graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School and went on to earn an associate degree with emphasis in technical & construction drafting at WKC&TC, then PJC. He began his career at Farris, McIntosh, & Tremper designing commercial and industrial plumbing and HVAC systems. In 1970, he became a draftsman/design engineer at Florence & Hutcheson where he produced designs and drawings for bridges and culverts for Kentucky state highways. In 1976, he became an engineering manager at Marcum & Fuller. Seven years later he accepted a position as a project engineer at Air Products & Chemicals where he became known for getting the hard jobs done. He frequently was tasked with completing jobs that had gone over budget under others’ supervision. 22 years later he moved to Celanese, then finished his career at Wacker Chemical in 2009.
Over the years he was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and Heartland Church. He enjoyed gardening, watching and feeding the wildlife that came to his backyard, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his brothers Jerald Clark of Washington, DC, Brad Clark of Marietta, Georgia, Terry Clark, and sister Joyce Goodman of Paducah, wife Ruth Ann of 48 years, children Deanna Young, Steve, Shawn (Joanna), and Michael Clark, Heather (Adam) Reams all of Paducah, eight grand kids, and nineteen great grand kids. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Glenn, Gene, Jim, and Joseph Clark and sisters Francis Davis & Caroline Voss.
Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday April 24, 2024 at Lindsey Funeral Home. Funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. The Rev. Todd Hawkins officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
