William “Butch” Walden, Jr., 82, of Paducah, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on May 28, 1944, in Paducah, KY, Butch’s life was marked by deep dedication to his community, steadfast loyalty to his family, and an enduring commitment to service. A proud veteran, Butch honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Upon returning to civilian life, he continued his service to others as a firefighter with the Paducah Fire Department, from which he ultimately retired.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Butch will be remembered most dearly for his generous spirit and warm heart. He was a great son, husband, father, brother, and friend, exemplifying what it means to be a true family man and a pillar of support for those around him. Butch embraced his Christian faith as a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and, in recent years, attended West End Baptist Church, where he found community and fellowship.
Outside of work and church, Butch found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often enjoying days spent fishing or hunting. His competitive spirit shone through in his love for poker and pool, hobbies that brought him both excitement and camaraderie. His home was made brighter by the companionship of his beloved pups—King, Gypsy Rose, Bella, and Buddy—who brought him much happiness.
Butch’s legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Lisa Walden of Paducah, and his daughter, Laura Walden Davis of Paducah. He is also survived by his sisters Madonna Bundren (George) of Paducah, Kasandra Hodges (Monte) of Benton, KY, Bunny Thompson of Paducah, and Sarah McIntosh (Barry) of Sharpe, KY; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Buck” Walden Sr. and Emma Lee Byers Hodge; his son, Glenn Walden; one sister, Cindy Reeves; and his grandparents, Otis and Bobbie Byers.
The memory of Butch’s kindness, loyalty, and dedication will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Friends and family are invited to gather for a memorial visitation on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at West End Baptist Church in Paducah, KY. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Monte Hodges officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Butch to the Lupus Foundation of America, 2121 K Street, NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20037-1830 or West End Baptist Church, 324 S 28th St, Paducah, KY 42003.
