Paul Thompson, age 62, a resident of Paducah, KY and former longtime resident of Westbrookville, NY, passed peacefully at Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital on December 23, 2024.
Born on March 15, 1962 in Patterson NJ to the late Pauline Oakley and the late Ward Thompson, he graduated from Port Jervis High School in 1980 and worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Crystal Run Healthcare for many years. Additionally, prior to his move to Kentucky, he served as a lay minister at the Westbrookville United Methodist Church as well as pastor of the Jeffersonville United Methodist church in Jeffersonville, NY.
In addition to his fluency in French and Spanish, he was a talented linguist who also spoke Polish, German, and many other languages. He was also passionate and knowledgeable about many different spiritual and religious practices and teachings. Paul was also gifted with the personality that led him to make friends wherever he went.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was predeceased by his aunt Elizabeth (Betty) Harrison and uncle Edgar (Red) Harrison; aunt Bernadette (Bernie)Harrison and uncle Robert (Bob) Harrison; and cousins Joan Kehoe and Joann, Mark, and Shawn Harrison.
Left to cherish his memory are his partner Timmy Kemplin; friend Don Wilson; sister Cindy Roe and brother-in-law Bill; nephews Keith and Shawn Roe; niece Sarah Willett; sisters-in-law Dot Price and Susan Willett; cousins Michelle Brocious, Dawna Kern, David Harrison, and Patty, Mary, John and Tom Kehoe; along with the many friends he made along his life’s journey.
The famly extends it deepest gratitude to Paul's "dialysis family" at the Fresenius Kidney Care center for the compassionate care and support they provided throughout his time on dialysis. A gathering to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at a later date. Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
