James Ferguson, born on April 8, 1945, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Center in Paducah, Kentucky. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments, which is a testament to the deep connections he fostered throughout his life.

James dedicated a significant part of his career to the oil industry, working as a head tool pusher on an oil rig. His experience included driving a line boat and holding several positions in maintenance, showcasing his versatility and commitment to his work. Beyond his technical skills, James was also a devoted Baptist minister, finding profound joy in serving others and sharing his faith with those around him.

Known for his warm and engaging personality, James loved being around people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His generosity and kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

In his leisure time, James cherished fishing and spending time on the water, relishing the tranquility it offered. However, his greatest joy came from being with his family. He treasured the quality moments spent with his children and grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be held dear by his loved ones.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Jodie Ferguson, and his children: Prima Black, Eric Bivens, and James Hardy. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Selena Jones, Jayce Dowdy, Briana Black, Bradley Ferguson, Veronica Ferguson, Branson Waldridge, Derrick Bivens, Brianna Bivens, Treavor Minton Hardy, Natalie Webb, Trinity Bivens, Jeslyn Bivens, Myles Hardy, and Amanda Cornett. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Jasper Jones, Julius Jones, Ezren Dowdy, Jayden Fouts, Zayne Jakway, Trenton Scott, Vincent Waldridge, Jordan Bivens, Loyalty Bivens, and Braxton Burke.

James was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Beardsley Ferguson, and his sons, Sebourn Ferguson and Timothy Bivens.

A visitation will be held in his honor on April 9, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM with Bro. Joe Vance officiating.  Both the Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home, located at 2410 Jackson Street, Paducah, Kentucky, 42003.

James Ferguson's legacy of love, faith, and generosity will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
