Erna Rae Jett, a beloved member of the community in Paducah, Kentucky, has sadly passed away on January 1, 2024, at Baptist Health Paducah, at the of 94. Erna was born on June 14, 1929, to the late Raymond and Violet (Elliot) Cooper. Erna's upbringing laid the foundation for a life dedicated to hard work, family, and the pursuit of her passions.
Throughout her career, Erna made a significant impact on the local industry. She devoted many years of her life to working in factories, including Tele-Service in Kevil and Central-Service in Paducah, where she retired. Her dedication and commitment to her work were widely recognized and appreciated by those around her. Erna possessed remarkable talents as a seamstress and upholsterer. Her skills were admired by everyone who had the pleasure of witnessing her work. Erna demonstrated a remarkable attention to detail and an unparalleled passion for her craft.
Outside of work, Erna found tremendous joy in pursuing various hobbies and interests. She had a green thumb and loved spending time gardening and tending to her yard. Many would often find her sitting on her porch, basking in the beauty of the flowers she nurtured so diligently. Erna was also an avid collector. She took great pride in curating collections of Beanie Babies, stamps, and coins. Her enthusiasm for these hobbies knew no bounds, as she meticulously sought out new additions to expand her treasured assortments.
In addition to her parents, Erna was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, William "Buddy" Jett; her three sisters, Nell Quevadas Cooper Dennis, Luanne Cooper Burnley, and Letha Cooper Scott; and two nephews Sidney Ray Abernathy and Darrell Lynn Abernathy.
Erna leaves behind her sister EllaJoe Moss (William) and cherished memories shared with numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Erna Rae Jett will forever be held dear in our hearts. Her unwavering strength, remarkable talents, and genuine kindness have left an enduring legacy. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, let us celebrate her life and the profound impact she made on each of us.
