Mr. Roger Wiedeman, 75, of Murray, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Lake Barkley Health and Rehab.

Roger was born on June 2, 1949 in Paducah, KY to the late J.F. Wiedeman and Reba Weineke Wiedeman.   

Roger graduated from Metropolis High School in 1967 and began his college studies at Murray State University, playing four years of college football and graduating with his degree in 1972. He became a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps after graduation and deployed to Southeast Asia. In the 1980's he became an army officer until his retirement from the military in 1999. He was in the reserves for the last 10 years of his commission when he became a school teacher and football coach at several schools in Illinois and Kentucky. After his retirement from teaching and the military he embarked on a second career overseas as a government contractor until 2010 until his final retirement at that time.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Sean Wiedeman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Frank Wiedeman, grandson, Kade Wiedeman and daughter Alyssa Taylor, as well as, former spouse and close friend, Chris Weideman of Metropolis, IL.

A graveside service with military honors is set for 11 am on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery North Ave in Metropolis, IL.
