Robert "Bob" Shirkey

Mr. Robert "Bob" Shirkey, 92, of Murray, KY, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at his home.
Bob was born on May 30, 1933 in St. Paul, MN to the late Wallace and Erna Lemke Shirkey.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He was the kind of man you could always count on—real and reliable in every sense of the word. He lovingly accepted and raised two daughters, Pamela and Alisa, as his own, never distinguishing them from anything but his heart. To them, and to all who witnessed it, he was simply Dad.
Bob loved playing the trumpet and showing off his creativity through his beautiful stained glass work, where he transformed simple materials into lasting pieces of art.  He had a love for the golf course, where he proudly carried an impressive 8 handicap. His heart extended beyond people to animals as well, whom he adored deeply.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lorn Shirkey; his twin sister, Betty Vercoe and his brother, Bill Shirkey.
Those he lovingly leaves behind include his wife of 47 years, Mrs. Carole Shirkey of Murray; and his two stepdaughters, Pamela Stafford of Nicholasville, KY and Alisa Shirkey of Marietta, GA.
Per his wishes, no services are planned at this time.
