Mrs. Phyllis M. Huggins, 93, of Murray, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House.

Phyllis was born on September 21, 1930 in Murray, KY to the late Arthur Farmer and Ruby Fulton.  She was a graduate of Murray High School and went on to graduate from Murray State University.  Murray State is where she met her husband, Zadia Herrold, Jr.  They both received the title of Mr. and Ms. Body Beautiful while on campus.  In addition, Phyllis sang with the MSU Campus Lights.  To begin her career, Phyllis taught art, physical education and then after completion of her master's degree, became a high school counselor at Collinsville High School for her remaining years in education.  As a high school counselor, she was always there for her students to help them with personal and educational issues. Many of her students have since said she changed their life for better and some said she changed their lives forever into their adulthood. Her wish was always to return to Murray, a town she has always called home in her heart even when miles away.  She dreamed of spending her retirement in Murray after living in Michigan and then years of teaching in Illinois. After retiring to Murray, she became a realtor with Kopperud Realty. Finally fully retiring at age 85.  She loved to be busy working diligently and absolutely loved meeting new people that would almost always become fast friends.  You'd often find Phyllis at Hungry Bear with her "breakfast club" friends.  She was a member of First Christian Church  in Murray.

Preceding her in death was her mother, Rubye Fulton Farmer; father, Arthur Farmer, two brothers, Euan Farmer and Fulton Farmer; her sister, Marynee Farmer Noel;  her husband(s),  Zadia C. Herrold, Jr. and William D. Huggins.  Also preceding her in death was her eldest daughter, Rubye Denee Sponsler.

Surviving are two daughters, Valerie Marie Parmley of Granite City, IL, Melanie Herrold Crow of Murray, KY; one son, Robert C. Herrold of Belleville, IL; four grandchildren, Carrie Funk, Nathan Johnson, Nicole Sponsler, Tom Parmley, four great grandchildren, Kira Johnson and Maci Johnson, Ian Haley and Campbell Haley; nieces and nephew, Judy Farmer, Connie Knapp, Nick and Suzi Farmer, Ann and Dewey Bryan, Barbie and Howard Roberts.  Also surviving is a special cousin, Dr. Clegg Austin (Faye) of Murray.
