Larry Russell Ball

Mr. Larry Russell Ball, 79, of Hardin, KY, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2026 at his home.
 
Larry was born on Christmas Eve of 1946 to the late Creed and Mossie Ball in Harlan, KY.  He was a member of St. Pius X in Calvert City, KY.
 
Mr. Ball retired from Louisville Metro Department of Corrections where he served his community faithfully for many years.  Outside of work, he had an enthusiasm for politics and never shied away from a lively discussion about current events. He was an avid fan of car racing and he also faithfully supported Murray State University Athletics, cheering on the Racers through every season.  Nothing brought him greater happiness than the companionship of his cherished dogs, Shonee, Mimi, and Lulu.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Phillip Russell Ball and a sister, Laura Collins.
 
Those left to cherish many wonderful memories include his loving wife of 28 years, Mrs. Sherry Ball of Hardin, KY; sons, Jeff Schank (Nicki) of Shepherdsville, KY, Andy Schank (Kristi) of Shepherdsville, KY, Matt Schank (Sara) of Mt. Washington, KY; grandchildren, Roby, Lucas, John, Joseph Schank and Marissa Gardner.
 
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held and announced.
