Henry Lee Dockins

Mr. Henry Lee Dockins, 80, of Benton, KY, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House.

Henry was born on April 25, 1946 in East St. Louis, IL to the late Henry and Clara (Woods) Dockins.

He was a man who truly felt at home on the water and found his greatest joy at Kentucky Lake. His love for the lake began in 1976 when he purchased his very first boat, and from that moment on, it became his favorite place to spend time.

Known by many as the one who could fix just about anything, Henry never shied away from a challenge. If something was broken, family and friends knew he would find a way to repair it. He also had a sweet side that everyone loved to tease him about—his fondness for Little Debbie snack cakes, they were one of life's simple pleasures that always brought a smile to his face.

Perhaps nothing greeted him more enthusiastically each day than his beloved dog, Tori. Their faithful companionship was a source of comfort and joy and the bond they shared was truly special.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carol Burgess as well as his beloved fishing buddy, Jasper.

Those left to cherish many wonderful memories include his loving wife of 61 years, Nelda Dockins of Benton; a son, Richard Dockins (Donna) of Millstadt, IL; a daughter, Joetta Bright (John) of Benton; two brothers, Darrell Dockins (Daphne) and Darren Dockins (Michelle), both of Millstadt, IL; a sister, Deborah Laminack of Freeburg, IL; grandchildren, Cassidy Polus (Dylan), Catlin Mason (Steven), Erik Dockins (Mariah), Trever Dockins, Kaylee Mays (Cody), Kaleb Bright (Oliva); great grandchildren, Olivia, Everleigh, Natia, Bentlee, Preston, Nolan, Aiden and great-great granddaughter, Viola.

A celebration of life will be held on October 10, 2026, venue to be announced.
