Mr. Hassie "Tonie" Kendall, 90, of Gleason, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on October 9, 2024.
Hassie was born on June 17, 1934 in Henry County, TN to the late Clovis Kendall and Addie Henry Kendall.
Hassie "Tonie" was a likeable person and he had a host of friends. He met no strangers. Hassie was well known around Puryear, TN, wearing his cowboy hat and smoking a cigar. Mr. Kendall professed hope in Christ at an early age and was a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Puryear. He served in the United States Air Force and worked for Laird Brick Company in Puryear until retirement.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three brothers, Clovis D. Kendall, James Jimmerson Kendall and Thomas L. Kendall; four sisters, Edna J. Kendall Bond, Margaret M. Kendall Hudson, Joyce F. Kendall and Rev. Eleanor G. Kendall.
Those left to cherish his memory include sisters, Eleanora Janie Tharpe of Hazel, KY, Sandra K. Williams and Willie R. Kendall Vaden of Paris, TN, Mary H. Littleton of Jackson, TN, and Katherine Kendall of Hazel, KY; a brother, Keirone Kendall and one sister in law, Annette Kendall of Huntsville, AL. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, family and friends, and one special nephew/caregiver, Joel Paschall of Paris, TN. The family would also like to acknowledge special friends, Mary Love Rowe Gillman, Patti Kennedy and Jane Triplett.
The funeral service honoring Mr. Hassie "Tonie" Kendall is set for 1 pm on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Puryear, TN. Reverend Thomas Taylor will officiate.
His family welcomes visitors from 11 am until 1 pm on Friday, October 18, 2024 at the church.
