Mr. George M. Elmore, 90, of Murray, KY, died peacefully at his home on August 29, 2025.
Mr. Elmore was born on March 9, 1935 in Reform, AL to the late Archie Elmore and Vera Bridges Elmore. He proudly served in the US National Guard.
He lived 90 long and wonderful years, almost 48 of which were spent with his beloved wife, Carol, by his side. He was a cherished husband, a beloved father, an adored pawpaw and an amazing friend. He meant so much to so many. George was one in a million. He brought laughter and fun everywhere he went. Truly, a memorable and unforgettable soul. To know him was to love him. He had such a way with everyone, especially children. You know one’s character is solid when children adore them, and he loved to have a lap full of babies. They gravitated to him. His jokes were hilarious, his stories, entertaining, and his words of support and encouragement, comforting. His general presence was so warm and welcoming. 90 years was simply not enough for someone so special.
In his younger years, George played football at Florence State University in Alabama, he loved to play golf, watch Alabama football and listen to his gospel music, but most of all, he adored spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Larson; brothers, Bernard, Verner, JT, Joe, Hayes and Doug Elmore and a son, Robbie Wilburn.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Mrs. Carol Elmore; children, Greg Elmore (Lori), Tim Elmore (Tricia), Beth Bryant (Phil); a brother, Larry Elmore (Martha); a daughter in law, Carlie Wilburn; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family celebration will take place at a later date.
