Don Bert Gilbert

Mr. Don Bert Gilbert, 63, of Murray, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025 at his home.

Don Bert was born to the late Don Payne and Jacqueline Watson Gilbert on March 8, 1962 in Murray, KY. He was born and raised in Murray, graduating from Murray High School.

Don Bert worked at Fisher Price for 20 years where he met Hazel Scott and they married June 8, 1991 and had 2 children.

Don Bert later joined his mother and stepfather Bill and Jackie Daughtery in operating the beloved Log Cabin restaurant that was ironically located in the same location as the Triangle Inn, owned and operated by the Gilbert Family years before.  He spent the last 22 years working at Pella Corporation.

Don Bert or “Bert” as others often called him, loved music, NASCAR, golf, his cats and had the biggest laugh that will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his father Don Payne Gilbert, his mother Jackie Watson Daughtery, stepfather William “Bill” Daughtery and a brother, Steven Payne Gilbert.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Justin Gilbert of Athens, GA; his daughter, Megan Gilbert of Hazel, KY; three sisters, Denice Reed (Shannon) of CO, Deidre Thompson (Dean) of GA, Marianne Curry (Craig) of OH, 2 aunts, 2 nieces and 6 nephews.
