Mr. Algie W. Graves, Jr., 74, of Murray, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at his home.

Mr. Graves was born to the late Algie Graves, Sr., and Johnnie Mae Gammons on September 1, 1950 in Richmond, CA.  Algie proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He retired from Murray State University after 16 years. He was honored to have an award named after him for his strong work ethic and dedication leadership. In the spring you could always find him working in his front yard planting flowers and giving orders to his great nephews while they cut his yard. On Fridays you would find him having lunch at Sirloin Stockade with his sister Linda and great niece Laila.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Algie and Johnnie Mae, as well as, his step father, Wayne Gammons.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Shawnree Graves and Anna Urquhart; siblings, Linda Graves and Dwayne Gammons; grandchildren, Saxony Graves, David and DeShawn Coates, Kalaesha Dillard and Olivia Sibert; nieces and nephews, Selena (Curtis) Ward, Tracy Martin, De’Vin Graves and a host of great nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind a special friend, Willene Anderson.

The funeral service is set for 12 pm on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Imes Funeral Home, downtown Murray.  Henry Greer will officiate and burial with military honors will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.

No public visitation will be held.
