Mr. Simmons was a Towboat Pilot and worked in the Riverboat Industry for 54 years, and he was a member of Salt & Light Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue Simmons of Smithland; one daughter, Sheri (Wayne Jr.) Ryan of Ledbetter; Larry Simmons of Smithland; one sister, Karen Sledd of Reidland; two grandchildren, Justin Draffen, Jade (Derrick) Allcock; one great-grandchild, Rylee Allcock; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Deward Simmons and Ada B. (Green) Simmons; one brother, Gaylon Simmons; one sister, Bonnie Parrish.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah with Tommy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Ledbetter.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
