Stanley Dwight Parks passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on March 1, 2025. He was born in Paducah, KY on August 5, 1952. Stanley was a proud veteran who honorably served his country across multiple branches of the U.S military. He was a member of Elva Missionary Baptist Church. He had a natural curiosity and a brilliant mind. His expertise and work ethic were evident in various positions including Chief Engineer in the riverboat industry, Master Machinist, Owner-operator truck driver, Mechanic in IUOE Local 181. He was also an Auto Mechanic Instructor at Marshall County Vocational School. Above all, Stanley was most known for his work at his transmission shop, a knowledge passed down from his father, where he not only built a career but also formed lifelong friendships.
Most importantly, Stan cherished his family. He deeply loved and took pride in his sons, Samuel (Adeena) Parks, Clint (Emily) Parks, Shawn (Kerri) Turner and Kenny Turner who survive him and carry on his legacy of integrity and hard work. He is also survived by his grandchildren Anna and Aubrey Parks, Nate and Noah Martin, Peyton and Lucas Parks, Paxton (Madison) Turner, Sayre and Maddox Turner; sister Debbie (Ronnie) Minter; brothers Keith (Susan) Parks, John (Marcy) Parks, and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mary- Jo, and his loving parents, John and Lottie (Baker) Parks. His presence, wisdom, and warmth will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah with Robert “Buddy” Brown officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Wallace Cemetery in Symsonia.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the funeral home.
