Russell Glen Brown, 95, of Reidland passed away at 3:15 AM on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Countryside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Bardwell, KY.

Mr. Brown was a Truck Driver and a member of Southland Baptist Temple in Paducah.

Russell was a godly man and knew Christ as his personal Savior. He served the Lord in many capacities through the years, such as a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, an usher and drove a church bus that took hundreds of kids to church when their parents didn’t. He always made sure the family worshipped together.

He was a hardworking, dedicated family man who was never too tired to drive his kids to church or school activities. He was gladly his wife’s (Shirley) sole caregiver late in life as she struggled with dementia and physical ailments.

He worked hard but enjoyed life, too. He loved driving his concrete trucks, nice cars, fishing, Gospel music and tending to his yard and garden.

He was a kind man who never knew a stranger and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Shirley May Brown of Reidland; one son, Thomas (Rebecca) Brown of Oklahoma City, OK; one daughter, Cynthia (Mark) Skillman of Lehigh Acres, FL; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Brown and Mary (Caldwell) Brown; 1 brother; 4 sisters.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah with Rev. Jimmy Franks officiating. Burial will follow at Clarks River Cemetery in Symsonia.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
