It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Etta Fay Farmer, age 80, of the Sharpe community, on Friday, February 9th, 2024 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.

Etta Fay, the daughter of Iola Sheppard Jones and Euclid Jones, was born on August 30, 1943 to the delight of her older sister, Emma Lou (Donald, Sr) Wells, of Paducah, who named her after a neighbor.

She was the beloved wife, of 56 years, to Thomas  B. (Tommy) Farmer, Jr. of Benton.  Etta Fay  had meet him on a blind date arranged by a friend, with her young nephew, Donald Glenn Wells, Jr., of Benton, and niece, Mary Anne Wells-Farmer, of Symsonia, in tow for a playdate.

After their marriage, Etta Fay became the mother and bonus mom to Stevie B. Farmer, (Mary Anne) of Symsonia and Barbara (Tom) Roseberry of Paducah.

She attended Reidland High School and retired from Owens Cleaners as a store manager.

Etta Fay was a member of Sharpe Missionary Baptist Church  and lived a rich, full life with her family and many life long friends.

For decades, Etta Fay was known to have nerves of steel, as the entertainer of the children in the family. She was a seasoned pro at settling scrabbles and was the cause of many giggles. Etta Fay was the provider of many adventures with three generations of children/teens over the course of 65 years.

To  Madalyn Farmer and Matthew Farmer, both of Symsonia, Etta was their Gran, who she loved and spoiled dearly. She was Aunt Etta to Donald (Samantha) Wells III, of Benton, who went on all kinds of adventures and shared her love for late model dirt track racing and NASCAR.

Other survivors include: granddaughters Shelly (Dave) Bodden of Ridley Park, PA; Amy Roseberry of Nashville TN; four great-grandchildren; Ashley Kelly, a great- niece, of Gallatin TN; three great-great nieces; and several cousins.

Etta Fay was preceded in death by her parents, Euclid and Iola Jones, infant brother, Thurman Jones, grandparents Eva and Claude Sheppard, Naomi and Gaylon Jones, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah, with Pastor Jeff Collins officiating. Burial is to follow at the Wallace Cemetery in Symsonia.
