Victor Ray Powell went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022.
He married his high school sweetheart on August 31, 1957. Victor was a husband to Leviathan; father to Drane (Laura) and Troy (Sherri); Grandfather to Clayton Powell (Lola), Cayla Thorn (Jimmy), GabrielPowell, and Shannon Powell; Great Grandfather to Jacob Thorn,Briley Powell, Lyla Thorn, and Emma Powell.
Victor attended Murray State University from 1955 to 1959 graduation with a B.S. in Business and Math. He was a member of the National Society of the Blade and Scabbard, the Sigma Lambda Iota Fraternity,and the Murray State Rifle Team.
Victor was commissioned in the United States as a 2nd Lt. in 1960 and served in the United States Army reserve until 1969, releasing at the rank of Cpt. Over his life, Victor worked as a Boy Scouts executive, Cashier, Executive Vice President and Board Member of the Bank of Benton, Adjunct Professor, Farmer, Business Owner and golf course Owner.
A lifelong resident of Marshall County, Victor served as president of the Lions club, the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Benton City Council.
Victor was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Powell; mother, Irene Powell; brother, Howard Powell; brother in-law Jimmy Bolen and sister in-law, June Powell. He is survived by his sister, Ina Bowlin.
Victor was beloved by some, and recognized by all as ornery as they come.
