Roger C. Swaney, 83, of Calvert City, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Stonecreek Nursing and Rehabilitation in Paducah, Kentucky.

Roger was born to the late Delbert Swaney and Helen Chapman Swaney Williams on December 19, 1941, in Springfield, Ohio. He was an inspector who was contracted to inspect everything from buildings to equipment. He worked many hours, but as a people person, he always enjoyed interacting with all those he met on the job. Roger was a member of the Freemasons and achieved Master Mason at his lodge in Houston, Texas. He loved children, and although he hated carrying one-dollar bills that took up room in his wallet, he always made sure to have a stack so he could hand out to children he saw in public after pretending that they may have dropped it. Roger was a proud Navy Veteran. He was a part of a unique branch of the Navy known as the Seabees, which was a Naval Construction Battalion. He was a member of Calvert City United Methodist Church.

Roger is survived by his wife, Norma Martin Swaney of Calvert City; one daughter, Tanya Tyrrell (Brian) of Washington; three sons, Roger D. Swaney (Kim), Jeremy Swaney (Tiffany), and Josh Swaney (Crystal), all of Houston, Texas; three step-daughters, Barbara Evans (Dawn) of Paducah, Anne Smith (Matthew) of Villa Hills, Kentucky, and Mary Beth Moser of Rutledge, Florida; one sister, Joyce Northup of Springfield, Ohio; one brother, Glen Swaney (Karen) of Brady, Texas; eight grandchildren, Brittany, Megan, Allie, Samantha, Mason, Kynzi, Saylor and Whitley; and five step grandchildren.

He was preceded by one sister, Carol Swaney; two brothers, Freddie Swaney and Joe Swaney; and his parents, Delbert Swaney and Helen Chapman Swaney Williams.

A visitation will be held by the family from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Calvert City United Methodist Church, 571 Oak Park Blvd., Calvert City, KY 42029, with a memorial service following at 12:00 PM. Dr. John Purdue officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Ohio.
