Raymond “Mickey” Turner, 88, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Baptist Health Paducah.

Mickey was born to the late Ross Turner and Pearl Bono Turner on March 10, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served his country with honor and dedication. He was also a American Legion Post #364 member in Dearborn, Michigan. After his military service, he continued to showcase his love for his country in a unique and personal way by handmaking thousands of safety-pin American Flags. Throughout the years, he always passed these flags out to people he would meet. As a hardworking man, Mickey spent many years behind the wheel working as a truck driver before retiring.

Known for his humor and always having a joke ready, Mickey's sense of humor was one of his most endearing qualities. He loved making people laugh, and anytime he was around, you could guarantee good times and laughter. Mickey also loved being outdoors; whether he was fishing, taking care of his yard and landscaping, or simply relaxing on his porch watching others, he always found joy in life's simple pleasures. When he wasn’t outside, he enjoyed watching sports on television, specifically boxing and golf. Mickey was also a car enthusiast, having owned many cars throughout his life. He spent countless hours attending classic car shows, admiring the craftsmanship, and could identify the year, make, and model of virtually every vehicle he saw. His passion for cars was something that he also shared with his son, Tracy. After Tracy began racing stock cars, you could always count on seeing Mickey in the stands watching him race and cheering him on.

A man of faith, Mickey was a devoted member of the Landmark Apostolic Holiness Church in Dawson Springs. Above all, his heart belonged to his family. Mickey's greatest joy was the time spent with his loved ones, sharing in laughter and making memories to be cherished for many years to come.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia “Trish” Turner; two daughters, Mitzi Phillips of Gilbertsville, and Monica “Frog” Warmath (Trent) of Benton; one son, Tracy “Ray” Turner of Dawson Springs; one step-son, Keith Humphrey (Cassie) of Murray; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Turner and Walter “Sonny” Turner; and his parents.

A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, Kentucky 42025.
