Paul “Mike” Sargent passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the age of 74, in his hometown of Benton, Kentucky.
Mike was born on March 24, 1950, to Joe Sargent and Louise Dishman Sargent in the same close-knit community. His life was a testament to his adventurous spirit and passion for theatre.
Mike's journey through life was marked by his love for the stage and his dedication to education. After nurturing his talent in theatre and receiving his Bachelor’s Degree at Murray State University, he went on to receive his Master's Degree from Florida Atlantic University. His academic achievements were only the beginning of what would become a lifelong commitment to the arts. Mike spent many years as a Theatre Professor at Florida Atlantic University before retiring in 2009.
Mike's adventurous soul found expression in the skies as an avid skydiver in his younger years. His love for this exhilarating sport reflected his approach to life—embracing each moment with courage and zest. This daring sport is also what brought him the good fortune of meeting and going on to marry Beverly, his beloved wife of 41 years. When his feet were on the ground, Mike could often be found strumming his guitar, the melodies of country music filling the room and bringing joy to those around him.
Mike is survived by his wife, Beverly Lewis Sargent.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
