Mark Allen Futrell, 68, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

Mark was born on April 27, 1958, in New York, New York, to Leamon "Buck" Futrell and Shirley Fike Futrell. He was a hardworking man who lived his life with purpose, loved deeply, and shared his heart freely. His life was a testament to the importance of faith, family, and friendship.

Mark graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 1976. After high school, he attended Murray State University before continuing his education at Tennessee Temple University. His commitment to learning and his strong work ethic carried into his professional life, where he spent many years working as a computer programmer.

A member of First Missionary Baptist Church, Mark was a devoted Christian whose faith guided every part of his life. His love for the Lord was evident in the way he lived, spoke, and treated others. He loved people and never missed an opportunity to share Jesus with those he met. His faith wasn’t just something he believed, but something he practiced daily with sincerity and devotion.

Mark enjoyed many hobbies and treasured the time he spent with his friends. A talented guitar player, he loved sharing his passion for music with those closest to him. Nearly every week, they would gather together to play guitar, creating memories filled with laughter, music, and friendship. He also enjoyed fishing at the lake, where he found peace and enjoyment in the simple beauty of the outdoors.

Above all else, Mark loved his family. His faith and his family were the two things he cherished most. He especially adored his granddaughters and loved spending time with them, whether running around together or taking them wherever they wanted to go. His devotion to them was evident in every interaction, and he treasured the laughter, energy, and love they shared. Mark was a constant source of encouragement, warmth, and affection to those closest to him.

He is survived by his wife, Thyra Davis Futrell of Benton, Kentucky; four daughters, Bethany Futrell of Chicago, Illinois, Laura Futrell of Louisville, Kentucky, Stacy Lee of Denton, Texas, and Misty Adent (Nathan) of Benton, Kentucky; one son, Casey Lee of Paducah, Kentucky; his mother, Shirley Fike Futrell; two sisters, Tina Caroll (Brad) of Benton and Alicia Browning (Melvin) of Calvert City; one brother, Barry Jevon “BJ” Futrell of Maui, Hawaii; nine grandchildren, Justin Lee, Trey Robinson, Moriah Robinson, Dezmond Robinson, K’Lynn Serad, Alyssa Serad, Hannah Lyons, Athena Crowell, and Gabi Lee; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Emma, Camilla, Melissa, and Avoni; and several nieces and nephews.
