Margaret “Peggy” Burkey, 84, of Hardin, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville, in Madisonville, Kentucky.
Peggy was born to the late Calvin and Ruth Dickman Cope on June 11, 1941, in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She was the Cafeteria Manager at South Marshall Middle School for thirty years before retiring. Peggy enjoyed gardening, flowers, and bird watching. She loved her family and held her grandchildren close to her heart. She and her grandchildren were both equally excited and looked forward to weekend sleepovers.
She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Thompson (Ramon) of Princeton, Kentucky; two sons, Sean Burkey (Terri) of Murray, Kentucky, and James Burkey (Jayna) of Almo, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Ruth Dickman Cope.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Hardin Baptist Church Cemetery.
