June King

June King, 92, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at her place of residence. 

June was born to the late William Edward Morgan and Irene Gaston Morgan on September 18, 1932, in Big Buck, Tennessee. She was a generous and outgoing person who never met a stranger, which went well with her occupation as a store owner along with her husband of Tony’s Market. She loved to shop, but also gave back to the community by volunteering her time and energy at the New to You Shop,  where her warm presence became a comforting fixture. She was known to fry the best chicken by her family, and no one has been able to quite perfect her recipe. June was a member of Briensburg Baptist Church.

June is survived by one daughter, Tonya King-Stroup (Ivin) of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; one son, Stephen King (Marsha Hetric) of Symsonia, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Kasey James, Ivin Stroup, Jeremiah Stroup, Charles Stroup, Michael Stroup, Paul Hetric, Russel Hetric, and Andrea Fulcham; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony King; two sisters, Janoyce Morgan and Anne Burrow; and her parents, William Edward Morgan and Irene Gaston Morgan Lawrence.

The family would like to extend their greatest thanks to the Mercy Health Hospice staff for the kindness and care shown to June in her time with them.

Visitation will be from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar St., Benton, KY 42025.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann. Burial will follow at Marshall County Memory Gardens.
