Gerald A. Shelton

Gerald Allen Shelton, age 81, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

Gerald was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 7, 1944.  He was a man who thrived when he was around people, especially the people he loved most, his family.  Gerald loved to entertain friends and family and was happiest when he was surrounded by the people he was closest to.  He was an avid Chicago sports fan, especially for his beloved Chicago Bears.  Shortly after moving to the Kentucky Lake area, Gerald became an avid fisherman.  He found great pleasure in the peacefulness of the lake while fishing for crappie.  He will be remembered by those who knew him best as being the most loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather.  

Gerald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Shelton, of Benton; three sons, Daniel (Amy) Shelton of Highland, Indiana, David (Emily) Shelton of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, and Christopher Shelton of Hammond, Indiana; one brother, Richard (Donna) Shelton of New Lenox, Illinois; and six grandchildren, Douglas Shelton, Riley Shelton, Eric Shelton, Caroline Shelton, Holly Shelton, and Jack Shelton. 

He was preceded in death by his mother and father. 

A celebration of Gerald's life will take place at a later date. Filbeck Cann Chapel of Milner & Orr is in charge of arrangements.
