Diane Fischer, 91, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky.

Diane was born to the late Albert and Dorothy Kauzlarich on July 14, 1934, in Tacoma, Washington.  She was a kind-hearted and nurturing woman, a quality that shone through in her affection and care for those around her. Her nurturing began in her childhood as she helped raise her three brothers and one sister, and continued as she created a loving home for her own children.  Her compassion extended far beyond her family. She dedicated many years to volunteering at Lourdes Hospital, warmly welcoming and assisting everyone who entered its doors.  Diane was a woman of deep faith and an active member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Calvert City, Kentucky, where she fulfilled the role of a Eucharistic Minister.

Diane had a passion for gardening, something passed down from the “old country."  Diane and her husband, Chuck, were members of the Tennessee Gesneriad Society.  She was a valued grower and mentor. Her area of expertise encompassed the growing and care of African Violets. Diane took great pleasure in sharing her vast knowledge by teaching anyone eager to learn at Murray State University or at her home where she cared for hundreds of various plants.

Diane is survived by two sons, Daniel M. Fischer (Cindy) of Brentwood, Tennessee and David M. Fischer (Linda) of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; three brothers, Melvin “Mel” Kauzlaraich of Olympia, Washington, Aldoren “Al” Kauzlaraich of Tacoma, Washington, and Eugene “Geno” Kauzlaraich of Florida; four grandchildren, Reece Fischer (Christina), Rivers Nesler (Barrett), Aaron Fischer, and Amie Cherry (Trey); and three great-grandchildren, Major Fischer, Maya Fischer and Teddy Cherry.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles Martin Fischer; one sister, Linda Tillett; and her parents, Albert and Dorothy Kauzlaraich.
