David “Mickey” Childs, 88, of Calvert City, Kentucky, formerly of Springville, California, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at his place of residence surrounded by his loved ones.
Mickey was born in San Luis Obispo, California, on December 15, 1935, to John and Vivian Childs. David was an adored Husband, Father, and Papa. He was also a Navy Veteran who proudly served his country. Mickey loved barbecuing and would do so for the Lion’s Club, of which he was a member, and at Rodeos. He also loved landscaping and woodworking. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Mickey is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Jane Childs, of Calvert City, Kentucky; two daughters, Tammy Cantrell (Cliff) and Karolyn Atkinson (Bill) both of Calvert; one brother, Ronnie Childs; five grandchildren, Sean Fitzgerald, Jarad Jennings (Emily), Kyle Cantrell (Maryah), Ty Patterson (Azlyn), and Cory Cantrell; and two great-grandchildren, Brailey Fitzgerald and Taylin Fitzgerald.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Stowe; his infant twin brother, John William Childs; and his parents.
There are no services scheduled at this time.
