Charles Willard Stevenson, a storyteller, jokester, and sometimes songwriter, if you were lucky enough to get to hear one, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his home at the age of 90. He was born to Walter and Dollie Hutchinson Stevenson on June 27, 1934. He never met a stranger and had a story for every situation. He was a Teamster in Local 236 and retired from Trimac Transportation as a diesel mechanic. He then worked for Rail Services because he realized that he wasn’t quite ready to retire yet. He could fix anything, and sometimes in pretty creative ways. His goal in life was to make people smile.

Charles is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Story (Michael) of Possum Trot and Sandy Lyles (Michael) of Sharpe; one son Stanley Stevenson of Calvert City; one sister, Glenda Brewer; one brother, Eddie Ray Stevenson; nine grandchildren, Chris Story (Kelly), Cassie Lyles, Russell Story, Austen Stevenson, Hunter Lyles (Mykayla Vick), Tanner Stevenson, Dakota Stevenson, Brianna Stevenson (Tyler Lovett), and Monica Bryan; and great-grandkids Emmy Story, Raylee Lyles, Charlee Lyles, Avalon Lovett, Allie Davis, and Izabella Davis. We will cherish the memory of our beloved dad, brother, grandpa, and peepaw.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lura Stevenson; one son, Roger Dale; three brothers, George Stevenson, Lindell Stevenson, and Melvin Stevenson; and seven sisters, Dorothy Richardson, Shirley Donovan, Freeda Collins, Mary Ann Stevenson, Ethel Phelps, Alice Holder; an infant sister; and his parents,Walter Stevenson and Dollie Hutchinson Stevenson.
