Bruce Phillips, 71, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Marshall County Hospital in Benton, Kentucky.
Bruce was born on April 21, 1953, in El Dorado, Illinois, to the late Rudy Phillips and Mary Mahan Phillips. He was a loving husband to Mary Reed Phillips, whose partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. Professionally, Bruce made his mark as a Master Welder, a title attesting to the skill and precision he brought to his craft. With a steady hand and a keen eye for detail, he was esteemed by his colleagues and took pride in his trade. His strong work ethic was shown through not only his quality of work but also the time he did not let go to waste when something was to be done or could be done.
Bruce was an avid fisherman, finding solace and joy in the simplicity of the cast, the anticipation of a catch, and the exhilaration of pulling in the big ones. He knew Kentucky Lake like the back of his hand and could always guide you to a spot where you could fish and catch a few.
Those who knew Bruce would describe him as handy and selfless. He gave freely of himself to anyone in need and was well-liked by all he met.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Mary Reed Phillips of Benton, Kentucky; one son, Todd Phillips (Angie), also of Benton; and one grandson, Beau Phillips.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Rudy Mack Phillips, Glen Allen Phillips, Eddie Phillips, Rudy Joe Phillips; and his parents, Rudy Phillips and Mary Mahan Phillips.
