Billy Thorn, 77, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Baptist Health Hospital.
Billy is a native of Marshall County who was born to the late Glen and Mildred McFarland Thorn on June 30, 1946. He worked as a laborer for many years out of the Laborers Local 1214 in Paducah, Kentucky. Before working as a laborer he was a truck driver for Marco Transport Inc. and throughout the years was also a cattle farmer. Billy enjoyed being outdoors and spending his free time going deer hunting. More than anything else, he loved spending time with all of his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Billy was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Virginia Riley Thorn; one son, Donald Thorn of Wheelwright, Kentucky; one daughter, Jennifer Norsworthy (Steven) of Gilbertsville; one sister, Kathy Sirls (Mike) of Gilbertsville; one brother, Charles Thorn (Barbara) of Gilbertsville; three grandsons, Gavin Thorn, Levi Thorn and Tyler Thorn; and two great grandchildren, Avery Thorn and Emmalyn Loesch.
Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Thorn, Jr. and his parents, Glen Thorn, Sr. and Mildred McFarland Thorn.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, Kentucky 42025.
There will be no funeral service held.
