Betty Martin Peredoe, 83, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
Born on July 5, 1941, in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Mary Whetsell Martin and Barney Kary Martin Sr. Betty lived a rich and full life, one marked by resilience, exploration, and deep connections with those she held dear.
Betty had an adventurous spirit and a heart that delighted in the open road. She traveled and lived in many places across the United States, embracing each new chapter with curiosity and independence before settling again in her heart home of Benton. A passionate bowler in her earlier years, Betty was proud of her many 300-game pins, a testament to her skill and love of the game.
Her life was also filled with books, meaningful friendships, and the joy of working with children, a role she spoke of with fondness long after retirement. She instilled in her family a lasting example of determination and work ethic — a gift her children carry with gratitude.
Betty lived on her own terms, embracing life’s journeys and challenges with a strength that was uniquely hers. Her story will be remembered with love and respect by those who knew her.
Betty is survived by her beloved brother, Barney Kary Martin Jr. of Benton, Kentucky; two daughters, Pamela Roberts of Daytona Beach, Florida and Tammi Roberts of Charleston, South Carolina; one granddaughter Ashley of Paducah, Kentucky, whom she raised with love and pride; and one grandson Philip of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. Her legacy also lives on through her nine great-grandchildren: Preston and Rilee of Texas, Teghan, Charlstyn, Declan, Clayton, Emilee, Daiton, and Finley of Paducah, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr is in charge of arrangements.
A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.
