Barbara Jezik, age 76, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on September 30, 2026, at Jackson Purchase Medical Center.
Barbara was a graduate of Benton High School and Murray State University, where she earned her degree in education and was a cheerleader. She dedicated 27 years to teaching elementary students at Sharpe Elementary and Benton Elementary, leaving a lasting impact on the many children she taught. She was a member of Benton Church of Christ.
Barbara loved shopping and bargain hunting, but most of all, she treasured spending time with her friends and her family. She had an infectious laugh and a personality that could light up any room. Funny, meticulous, and full of energy, Barbara never met a stranger and was truly a ball of fire and the life of the party. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, generous heart, and the laughter she brought to those around her.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lenny Jezik; her son, Chad Jezik (Heather Dublin) of Mayfield; one sister, Patricia Peek (Mike) of Nashville, Tennessee; and two brothers, Bob Johnston of Benton and Jerry Johnston (Paula) of Huntsville, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Riley and Doris Johnston.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 am on Monday, October 5, 2026 at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, Kentucky 42025. A private family graveside service will follow.
