Velincia Irene Miller, 90, of Benton, Kentucky stepped out of this life and into the open arms of her Heavenly Father at 6:16 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Velincia was born on September 2, 1934, on the family farm in Benton, Kentucky to the late Cletus and Ida Mae Thompson, also of Benton, KY.  She attended Salem Chapel School and Fairdealing High School.  She was married to Leonard Miller on December 26, 1954 in Corinth, until his passing in August 1982.

She was a faithful member of Hamlet Baptist Church in her early years where she was saved and baptized there.  Several years later she became a member of Christian Fellowship Church, where she remained until her passing.

Velincia worked as a building maintence manager for Bell South and AT&T for over 30 years.  She had a tireless work ethic and won several outstanding service awards during her time there.  She retired at the age of 76 and then took a part-time job cleaning the post office in Benton, KY.  She loved people and loved being around people so staying at home just didn't seem satisfying.  She finally stopped working at 79 years old.

Her devotion to Jesus Christ was evident in everything she did and she shared the love of Jesus with everyone she met.  Every conversation would find itself turning to Jesus and sharing the gospel with them.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely and was at her happiest when her family was around her.  She would often cook big meals and the family would gather together playing games, talking, laughing and sharing good times.  She was an excellent cook and loved to cook for people who liked to eat.

She is survived by her son, Jimmy Miller of Benton; daughter, Renee Miller Driskill, husband Rick of Gilbertsville; one sister, Nola Massey; two grandchildren, Adam Miller of Symsonia and Angela Jewel McDowell, husband Nathan of Paducah; three great-grandchildren, Celia Jewel "CJ" Wilson, husband Jamari, Layla McDowell and Wyatt McDowell; and twin great-grandchildren to be born in February 2025.  She also had several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Miller; daughter, Mitzi Denise Miller Hunter; grandson, Adam Tyler Hunter; seven siblings, Vera Pearl Higgins, Eura Mae Turner, Earling Gregory, Myrtie Kelly, John Thompson, Charles E. Thompson, Robert "Bob" Thompson; and her parents.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation to World Missions & Evangelism, P.O. Box 790, Benton, KY 42025 or online at worldmissionsevangelism.com.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home with Bro. David Parish and Bro. Richie Clendenen officiating.  Burial will follow at Hamlet Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM  on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home.
