Tommy Hobgood

Glen Thomas Hobgood, 80, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

He was born in Murray, Kentucky, on Mother's Day, May 12, 1946. He was the son of Bill Hobgood and Mary Thompson Hobgood.

He proudly served in the USMC from 1966-68. He chose to be an electrician as his life’s work and was a member of IBEW Local 816 for 58 years.

Tommy, as he was known, loved the Lord and served Him in many capacities. He was a deacon, an elder and an excellent Bible class teacher. He taught a teenage class for many years and always tried to encourage young people. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ, where he worked with the ramp ministry until his health prevented it.

He loved basketball, fishing, drag racing and trying out new restaurants. In recent years, he enjoyed making walking canes and hiking sticks and giving them to friends and family.

He was devoted to his family and tended to brag on them on occasion. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dianna; his children Adam Hobgood (Keri) and Cara Hunt (Stephen); his grandchildren Cheyenne Hobgood (Tony), Caleb Hobgood (Raegan) and Brenna Hobgood (Eli); and the light of his life, great-grandson Theo. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Debbie Parton and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jerry, Ronnie and Mitchell; a niece, Marti Hobgood and sister in law Martha Hobgood.

Visitation will be held at the Collier funeral home on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM. Jason Jackson, minister at Walnut Grove Church of Christ, will be officiating. Burial will be in the Birmingham Cemetery.
